Bobby and Manraj Chadha founded Karibu Camps & Lodges in 2017, and opened Elephant Springs in 2024. It rises among baobabs and umbrella thorn acacia on a low rise, where the suites and open lounge look out over the spring and the plains beyond. Through the July-to-October dry season, elephants drink within sight of the pool deck.
Mornings and afternoons are given over to game drives across the river line, the baobab woodlands and the open plains in 4×4 Land Cruisers. Tarangire holds around 500 recorded bird species, and in the dry season the river corridor concentrates elephants, buffalo and antelope, with lions and leopards working the edges. Meals blend international and contemporary African cooking, served in the open-fronted restaurant, on the decks above the spring, or set up under the stars in the bush. Dietary requests are handled without fuss.

An itinerary through northern Tanzania often pairs Tarangire with the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, though each answers a different brief. The Serengeti is built around scale and the migration. The quickest route is the light aircraft from Arusha to Kuro airstrip, about twenty-five minutes in the air, and the lodge is then only some fifteen minutes' drive from the strip, one of the shortest transfers in the park. By road from Arusha it is roughly two to two and a half hours to the gate and then a game drive through the park to the lodge. We can also arrange a private charter, typically a Cessna Caravan or Pilatus PC-12.

Yes. The park lies at roughly 1,100 metres, under the 1,800 metre threshold used by both the CDC and the UK's official travel health advice for malaria risk in Tanzania, so antimalarial tablets are recommended alongside the nets and screens the lodge provides.
Guidance changes from year to year, so confirm the current position with a travel clinic or your doctor before you travel, and keep covered once the sun drops, particularly around the water.
Warm, dry days through the safari season, typically mid to high twenties, with mornings cool enough to want a fleece in an open vehicle and dust that builds as the dry season runs on. November brings short rains; March to May the long ones.
Neutral-coloured layers, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and strong sunscreen are the core, with a warmer layer for night drives and swimwear for the pool above the spring. Soft bags only if you are flying in.
August and September are the peak of the peak, when the dry season has concentrated the herds and the spring in front of the lodge works around the clock. July and October bracket that well. The green season from November to May trades big concentrations for birdlife, newborn animals and empty roads, with March and April the wettest.
A lodge built over its own water rewards patience more than mileage, so we would weight the stay toward the dry months if watching elephants at close range is the point of coming.
The lodge runs wifi, and it is comfortably up to messages, email and photos on a good day rather than heavy streaming. Mobile signal inside the park comes and goes, strongest near the ridgelines and gone in the river valleys.

Three nights sits right. Day one arrives and settles in at the spring, day two takes the long drive to the river circuit or a walking safari, day three leaves room for a night drive and the unhurried hours at the water that justify the lodge's position inside the park.
It then joins the northern circuit cleanly, with Ngorongoro and the Serengeti onward by road or by air from Kuro, which is how most guests route it.
