The Fort

The Fort at Shela, located in the Lamu Archipelago of Kenya, presents an unusual design, offering an exclusive retreat directly on the beach

The Fort’s exclusivity is further enhanced by its dedicated staff, a team of approximately ten professionals committed to ensuring a comfortable and personalized stay for every guest. From the moment of arrival, guests can expect attentive service tailored to their preferences. Dining and drink requests are meticulously handled by the skilled house cooks, with the option to pre-order specific items ahead of time, ensuring that every meal is a bespoke experience reflecting the rich culinary traditions of the region.

Architecturally, The Fort is a testament to the fusion of local and Moroccan influences, evident in its central courtyard and swimming pool, reminiscent of a Moroccan riad. This design not only adds to the aesthetic appeal but also ensures that each room offers a view of the pool, blending indoor luxury with the outdoor beauty of the Kenyan coast. The architecture facilitates a seamless interaction between the indoor spaces and the natural surroundings, creating a harmonious atmosphere that resonates with the tranquility of the location.

Conservation and Sustainability

While The Fort primarily focuses on providing luxurious accommodation and bespoke services, it contributes to the local community by employing residents from the surrounding area.
