Nestled in the Palmwag Concession, near the Skeleton Coast National Park, Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp lies within an extraordinary landscape where the rocky Palmwag area converges with the dune terrain of the Skeleton Coast. The camp is perched in a vast valley at the junction of two tributaries of the Hoanib River, amidst immense dunes and rugged mountains. This region, characterized by its gravel floodplain leading to sandy dunes and sporadic lush oases, is a haven for a diverse array of wildlife and bird species, making it a unique location for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers.

The current camp was established as a successor to the original Skeleton Coast Camp, which ceased operations in 2012. In August 2014, Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp was inaugurated, marking the revival of the Skeleton Coast as a prime destination in Namibia. The camp, known for its isolation and luxury, is part of Wilderness Safaris’ network, a company founded in 1983 with a focus on wildlife conservation and community benefits.
