Founded by Marc and Elinor Duerr in 1997, Tok Tokkie Trails was inspired by the lack of walking trails in Namibia. The trail, initially started on a different route, has evolved over the years, continually fine-tuning the experience. Suitable for children above eight and ideal for small groups, the trail operates most of the year, pausing only during extreme weather conditions from mid-December to mid-February. The journey to the starting point includes a scenic drive through the NamibRand Nature Reserve, ensuring that every aspect of the experience is memorable and enriching.
Tok Tokkie Trails transcends traditional safari experiences, offering a ‘Hiking with Style’ approach. Guests are encouraged to savor the pristine surroundings and enjoy the simplicity of nature without forgoing comfort. The trail starts with a visit to the Namib Desert Environmental Education Trust (NaDEET), highlighting the trail’s commitment to environmental education and sustainability. This unique approach allows guests to connect deeply with the desert, its rhythms, and its mysteries, making it an ideal experience for those seeking a deeper understanding of Namibia’s natural beauty.
