The Kigali Serena sits on Boulevard de la Revolution in the centre of the city. Kigali International Airport is close by, around ten to twelve kilometres away, which is a drive of roughly fifteen to thirty minutes depending on traffic. That short hop is much of the hotel's appeal as a first or last night in Rwanda.

Kigali sits at around 1,500 metres, and the altitude keeps its malaria risk low, well below the warm lowlands to the east. Low is not none. No part of Rwanda is officially malaria-free, and most visits to the capital are paired with time in the parks, where the picture changes.

Kigali is mild all year at its altitude, so timing is less about temperature than about rain and the city's calendar. The steadiest, driest weather comes in the long dry season from June to mid-September, with July the driest and August the clearest, and this is also when the city's festivals and ceremonies cluster. The shorter dry spell from mid-December to February is a good second choice.
April is the wettest month, with March, May, October and November the other damp stretches. If your trip centres on the parks, the dry months line up well with easier trekking too.
Yes. The Kigali Serena has complimentary wifi throughout, in both the rooms and the public areas, and as a central city hotel its connection is among the more dependable you will find on a Rwandan trip, good for email, calls and browsing before you head out to the parks where the signal thins.
The Serena works best as a staging point at the start or end of your trip rather than a base you travel out from each day.
Volcanoes National Park and its gorillas are roughly two and a half to three hours away by road, and Akagera around two and a half hours, so both are done as onward stays rather than day trips. Gorilla permits must be arranged well in advance.
