This 12-night safari links northern Tanzania’s main ecosystems in turn. It begins in a remote sector of the northern Serengeti, moves to the private Mwiba Reserve, pauses in the cultivated Ngorongoro Highlands, and ends at Chem Chem in the rehabilitated Kwakuchinja Corridor between Tarangire and Lake Manyara.
Travel combines light aircraft and overland transfers across the Rift Valley and adjoining plateaus. Days hold vehicle drives, bush walks and seasonal fly-camping, with time among the Hadza at Mwiba. Accommodation alternates between small tented camps and larger lodges, each chosen for its location relative to seasonal wildlife movements.
Private road transfer to Legendary Lodge, located on a coffee estate at the foot of Mount Meru. The day is flexible to match arrival times, offering rest and adjustment after long-haul travel. Gardens and estate walks provide a gentle introduction to northern Tanzania before the safari begins.
Fly by Cessna 208 into a lightly visited sector of the Serengeti and stay at Nyasi Tented Camp. With a private guide, explore daily by vehicle according to wildlife activity. The focus is on the northward movement of wildebeest herds and the predators that follow, particularly lion and cheetah, with birdlife including kori bustards and secretary birds common in these open grasslands.
Continue by light aircraft into the private Mwiba Reserve. From Mwiba Lodge, activities extend beyond vehicle safaris to include bush walks and seasonal fly-camping. Encounters with the Hadza people provide perspective on long-standing foraging practices. Wildlife here is varied, with leopards, elephants, and migratory species using the reserve’s river systems.
Transfer by road into the Ngorongoro Highlands for a two-night stay at Gibbs Farm. This stop is designed as a pause, with opportunities to walk the coffee fields and surrounding forests, visit local workshops, or simply rest in the cooler highland climate. The emphasis is on the cultural and agricultural landscape rather than game viewing.
Travel overland to Chem Chem, a private concession linking Tarangire and Lake Manyara. The reserve protects a rehabilitated corridor where elephants, giraffes, and predators once again move between ecosystems. Guests explore on morning and evening drives or guided walks, with a focus on understanding how conservation has reshaped this key landscape.
