Follow The Great Migration In Privacy
This 12-night safari is structured around northern Tanzania’s major ecosystems, moving between remote sectors of the Serengeti, the private reserves of Mwiba and Chem Chem, and the cultivated highlands of Ngorongoro. Accommodation alternates between small tented camps and more substantial lodges, chosen for their location in relation to seasonal wildlife movements and land management histories. Travel is a mix of light aircraft and overland transfers, following the contours of the Rift Valley and adjoining plateaus.
Wildlife encounters are set against broader ecological and cultural contexts. In the Serengeti, attention is on the migration and predator-prey interactions it sustains. Mwiba offers a chance to walk through semi-arid bush and spend time with Hadza hunter-gatherers who retain a deep knowledge of these landscapes. At Chem Chem, guests see the effects of conservation in restoring the Kwakuchinja Corridor as a passage for elephants and other species. Gibbs Farm, meanwhile, provides a quieter interlude focused on highland agriculture and local community life.
