This route links three parts of East Africa across 14 nights. It opens on the southern edge of Nairobi National Park, where black and white rhino move across savannah with the city skyline behind them. It then crosses to a private concession in the western Maasai Mara, below the Oloololo Escarpment, where the rules allow off-road driving and walking. It closes on Zanzibar’s south-east coast, on the Michamvi Peninsula, with reef, lagoon and Swahili history.
You travel by road and light aircraft, with game drives in open and closed vehicles, walks along the escarpment and long days by the Indian Ocean. The lodges are chosen for what each does best: a family-built lodge inside a park at Nairobi, a tented camp on Maasai-owned land in the Mara, and an adults-only clifftop retreat for the coast.
