Southern Tanzania by Boat, Foot and Water
This is ten nights across two very different sides of Tanzania. It opens with five nights in Nyerere National Park, the river-laced wilderness carved from the old Selous Game Reserve, where the Rufiji braids through channels and lakes and wild dog range the woodland edges. It closes with five nights on Pemba Island, a boat-only lodge above the reefs of the Zanzibar archipelago, where the diving draws travellers north of the busier islands.
In Nyerere the days move between boat safaris on Lake Nzerakera, guided walks with a park scout and game drives around the lakes. On Pemba the rhythm follows the tide, with diving on steep coral walls and quiet forest paths down to the sea. Roho ya Selous is a tented camp on a lake peninsula; Fundu Lagoon is a canvas lodge climbing a forested hillside above the Indian Ocean.

Nyerere's Lakes by Boat, Foot and Vehicle
Five nights in the core game area of Nyerere National Park, on a peninsula pushing into Lake Nzerakera. Mornings often begin on the water, with a boat sliding out at first light to track hippo pods and basking crocodiles along the channels. Guided walks go out with a camp guide and a national park scout, and afternoon drives work the country around the two lakes, where lion, elephant, giraffe and buffalo move through the woodland and this part of the park holds a notable population of African wild dog. Roho ya Selous has eight stretch-canvas tents on raised stone platforms, each with lake-facing verandas, indoor and outdoor showers and an Evening Breeze cooling unit over the bed.

Pemba Island Reefs and Forest Shore
Five nights on the forested southwest coast of Pemba Island, reached by boat along the mangrove-fringed shore. The days follow the tide, with swimming from the white-sand beach at high water and the reef exposed at low. Offshore the reefs run to 20 to 40 metres of visibility, and from the lodge's own centre, Dive 710, divers work coral walls and drift dives, with the Misali Island marine conservation area a short boat ride away. Fundu Lagoon has eighteen canvas tents under makuti thatch climbing the hillside, with forest paths down to a long jetty bar, a curved infinity pool over the sea and the Fundu Fusion Spa. Vervet monkeys move through the canopy and bush babies call after dark.
