Uganda’s Forgotten Sector

This journey explores northern Uganda, an area far less frequented than the country’s celebrated southern parks. Beginning in Entebbe, the route moves east to Pian Upe Reserve, one of Uganda’s oldest protected areas, then on foot up Mount Kadam before heading into the plains around Moroto. Here guests spend meaningful time with the Karamajong People, pastoralists with deep-rooted traditions shaped by the semi-arid environment. The itinerary closes in Kidepo Valley, a landscape of rugged hills, golden savannah and some of the country’s most intact wildlife communities.

Each stage reveals distinct environments, from the acacia woodlands of Pian Upe where cheetah and ostrich still roam, to the montane terrain of Kadam and the open rangelands of Karamoja. Birdlife is exceptional, particularly in Kidepo where dry-country species overlap with East African savannah specialists. Road transfers, charter flights and guided walks carry you through these varied regions, while accommodations range from lightweight tented camps to Apoka Safari Lodge, ensuring both immersion and comfort.
