Group journey

Botswana: Okavango Delta Under Canvas

This journey has been designed to provide an exclusive safari experience in what is arguably the most celebrated safari destination of them all, The Okavango Delta. We will mobilise a fully staffed and exclusive mobile camp along with your own private guiding team into two key wilderness areas, before flying to a luxury lodge high up in The Delta’s panhandle.

By design this itinerary will allow us to explore the variety of eco-systems by 4wd vehicle, on foot, by canoe, from the air and where necessary by boat. By structuring your safari in this way we are able to demonstrate the true variety and scale of The Delta, doing so in the company of your own private guide will ensure it is as informative as it is enjoyable.

Maun to Moremi Reserve

Met upon arrival in Maun Airport, where you will be assisted with check-in for your short light aircraft flight over The Delta to Moremi Reserve.

For the next three days, you will have the opportunity to explore one of Africa’s most prolific game viewing areas with your private guiding team. Large herds of elephants are common, as are lion, leopard and occasionally wild dog. Following a hugely successful reintroduction program, this area become a productive site from which to view the critically endangered black rhino, although this is by no means guaranteed.

Each day you will end at your private camp, enjoying dinner and cold beers around the fire and under the stars, as a truly wild safari should be.

  • Guided by Andrew Harkness
  • Dinner in camp
  • Accommodation in private mobile camp

Savute Marshes

After rising early in the morning, your camp team will begin to pack away your camp in preparation to travel north to Savute Marshes. Whilst the camp team travel directly north, you will travel, in the company of your guiding team, through a variety of habitats that link Moremi to Savute.

The Savute Marshes are a dramatic area of grassland positioned in the western sector of Chobe National Park, covering an area of nearly 2,000 square miles and home to one of the few geological features to be found in Botswana, The Savute Hills. Huge herds of wildlife are attracted to the area by the waterholes left by the seasonal rains. In turn, these herds bring with them large numbers of predators, who will follow these herds during their life migration in search of water.

The Panhandle

Journey north by single engine light aircraft from Savute to Jedibe where you will be met by your guiding team for the duration of your time in The Panhandle.

It is very difficult to understand what makes The Okavango Delta special, without understanding the flow of the water. It is this water that brings life to an otherwise arid desert region, it is this water that makes the area what it is.

Including time spent in this part of the delta is done so by design. During our time here, we will look for the more aquatic species both on foot and by canoe, using a luxurious lodge as our base for the two days.

  • Guided by Andrew Harkness
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner in camp or your lodge
  • Accommodation in Setari Camp

Return to Maun and depart

Returning to Maun via a short light aircraft flight, allowing us one last look at The Delta from the air.

We will assist you with check in formalities for your departure flights and bid farewell.

  • Guided by Andrew Harkness
  • Breakfast, lunch in your lodge
  • No accommodation included on this day

Our time spent in Botswana was so perfect, and we connected as a family like we had not done for years, without a doubt one of the best holidays we have ever had together.
